Building Management Systems (BMS) Automation Engineer
Location: Dublin, Ireland
12-month rolling contract
Looking for your next career move in automation engineering? We’re hiring a BMS Automation Engineer for an exciting opportunity within a leading biopharmaceutical facility in Dublin. This role offers the chance to work in a high-tech European environment, supporting and optimising state-of-the-art Building Automation Systems (BAS) in a cutting-edge manufacturing setting.
This hybrid, 12-month contract role is ideal for an experienced automation engineer eager to work with advanced automation technologies and collaborate with industry-leading professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain and optimise Building Automation Systems (BAS) (Siemens DesigoCC) and other Utility Automation Control Systems.
* Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support to ensure system reliability.
* Lead and contribute to upgrade projects within the facility.
* Manage and coordinate project timelines to meet deadlines.
* Ensure all automation equipment meets operational and compliance standards.
* Develop, test, and implement automation change controls.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project engineers and operational staff.
* Supervise external vendors and technical teams to drive project success.
* Document system processes, reports, and work instructions.
* Provide training for maintenance and operational staff.
* Participate in Software Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
* Enhance and maintain change control systems to meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
* 5+ years’ experience in Building Management Systems (BMS) within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or a similar regulated industry.
* Strong background in automation project delivery and operational support.
* Hands-on experience with Air Handling Units (AHU), HVAC systems, cooling towers, and compressors.
* Proficiency in Siemens DesigoCC and Siemens Xworks.
* Familiarity with modbus communication protocols and experience working with Siemens PXC controllers (advantageous).
* Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management abilities.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
* Knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle and GDP documentation practices.
* Proven ability to anticipate, evaluate, and resolve complex project challenges efficiently.
