As the Customs Compliance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of customs compliance across my client's Dublin facility. You'll oversee, monitor, and audit compliance practices within our extensive customs team, providing expert support on customs-related and operational matters for both Ireland and UK sites.
In this role, you will lead a skilled team responsible for conducting audits, maintaining strong relationships with Revenue and HMRC, and addressing queries from Operations Teams, Customs Staff, and Customers. Acting as the key contact for customs expertise, you'll be the go-to source for all compliance queries, ensuring seamless and effective processes across our sites.
This role is Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm and is full time on site.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as the in-house customs expert, managing AEO accreditation and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
2. Foster relationships with customs authorities and address clearance and audit queries.
3. Monitor and control compliance for national and international Common Transit consignments.
4. Oversee essential paperwork for customer operations (e.g., Direct Representation and deferment facility permissions).
5. Keep customs code changes up-to-date and communicate new requirements, providing training and process updates to the team.
6. Conduct internal audits, implement process improvements, and re-train staff as needed to uphold customs standards.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Ireland, the UK, and with the Brexit team to establish shared best practices and effective communication channels.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualities:
1. In-depth knowledge of customs clearance requirements and procedures.
2. 3+ years' experience delivering customer service in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
3. Excellent understanding of supply chains and of the freight forwarding arena.
4. Motivated results-driven self-starter.
5. Strong organisation and communication skills.
6. Collaborative approach to problem-solving.
7. Exceptional attention to detail, awareness of deadlines, and time management.
8. Strong knowledge of customs systems, requirements, and query resolution.
