Cantec is seeking a driven Senior Accountant to join their expanding finance team in Waterford. In this role, the Senior Accountant will oversee the full range of finance activities, providing valuable exposure to various aspects of the business and offering significant opportunities for career development. Key responsibilities will include accounting, reporting, financial control, balance sheet management, liquidity oversight, and financial planning. The Senior Accountant will also collaborate closely with the fractional CFO on business planning, forecasting, and strategy. This position requires strong teamwork, particularly with the CFO, finance department, and management team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring timely completion of month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments.
* Manage financial activities, including accounting, reporting, controlling, taxation, and banking functions.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure accurate depreciation postings.
* Oversee the AP & AR functions such as ensuring all invoices are processed promptly and overseeing the monthly supplier payment runs, direct debit processing, and monthly customer statement distribution etc. The Senior Accountant may be required to perform some of these tasks as needed, ensuring continuity and efficiency within the finance team.
* Ensure smooth day-to-day finance operations, including employee expenses and cash flow management and reporting.
* Liaise with external accountants as necessary.
* Implement and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including statutory compliance.
* Deliver accurate and timely financial and operational key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as regular financial forecasts.
* Ensure that all company compliance requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with regulatory standards.
* Along with the fractional CFO manage balance sheet integrity and liquidity, safeguarding company assets.
* Collaborate with the fractional CFO on enhancing forecasting systems, driving continuous improvements, automation, and scaling to support effective decision-making.
* Partner with the fractional CFO to assess and act on business opportunities, supporting strategic decisions with robust financial analysis.
Requirements:
* Must have an ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.
* Experience in managing finances and building value.
* Strong financial planning and performance management understanding.
* Demonstrated ability of working in a fast-paced or challenging environment essential.
* Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods would be desirable.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial reporting software with an ability to learn IT systems quickly.
* Strong people leadership and influencing skills with strong interpersonal skills and ability.
* A strong focus on continuous improvement and attention to detail, with a belief in establishing systems and processes to ensure consistent strong operational performance.
* Excellent commercial judgement with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
