As a Wind Farm Technician, you will support the overall operations and maintenance of one or more wind farms and all related facilities to ensure safety and maximize availability in accordance with the Operations mission.
This role is responsible for safe execution of scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities, training, and safety exercises.
This job also maintains accountability and readiness of plant tools, equipment, and vehicles; provides technical guidance to the O&M team; tracks, and maintains records of service activities both scheduled and unscheduled through the digital maintenance management system; and helps maintain the work ethic and culture of the plant O&M team.
Role Responsibilities:
Ensure that all operations and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm siteAssist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following planned maintenance or outagesPerform safety and other wind farm related tasks when assigned and fill in as backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessaryAssist with turbine maintenance including services, major component work and replacement, and troubleshootingAssist with Balance of Plant procedures as needed, including substation and collection system maintenanceAdherence to the company's values and behaviorsJob Requirements and Experiences:
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate's degree in sciences or a related field from an accredited school preferredAlternatively, 2-year or 4-year college degree from an accredited school (other than correspondence or online) in a technical science like engineering, physics, power, or closely similarCurrent journeyman or master electrician license preferredMinimum 2 years of work experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission and/or distributionUnrestricted driver license in good standingWilling to relocate to within 1 hour drive of siteAbility to troubleshoot and repair electromechanical systems with solid foundation in theory of operation is requiredRead, interpret, and follow electrical, mechanical, & hydraulic circuit drawingsIdentify energy isolation points and implement LOTO for protectionThorough knowledge of electromechanical relay, hydraulic accumulator, linear transducer, and electrical motorFamiliarity with power electronics, motor drives, AC/DC convertersKnowledge of computer network communication protocol and theory of operation is desiredAbility to understand and communicate root causes requiredGood communication skills and must value being part of a teamSafety- Promote safety for all at all timesInitiative - Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available informationPhysical Requirements: This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locationsMust be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of timeBenefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
