About this role
This is a contract-based position for an initial period of 3 months, offering flexibility and a unique development opportunity for a candidate eager to make meaningful impact. The role is central to ensuring our ongoing compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations, helping safeguard the organization from financial crime and supporting adherence to all relevant regulatory standards. This contract role offers valuable exposure and a strong potential for future collaboration. As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
In this critical role, you will oversee and manage our comprehensive AML / CTF program as we pursue our Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license and expand our real estate financing services.
Your Responsibilities
As a Senior AML specialist, your role will encompass the following:
AML/CTF Program Development and Management
1. Develop and manage the institution’s AML program, ensuring robust internal and external controls are embedded within our operational framework.
2. Review, finalize, and embed the AML Business Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA) to define the firm’s AML/CTF and Financial Sanctions risk profile.
Policy and Procedure Development
1. Finalize, implement, and maintain AML/CTF policies and procedures.
2. Develop processes to maintain comprehensive records of all AML/CTF activities, including internal reports, Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), and training sessions.
3. Conduct regular AML risk assessments, identifying potential risks and proactively developing strategies to mitigate them.
Compliance Oversight & Reporting
1. Prepare and submit SARs and ensure timely and accurate AML reporting to regulatory authorities.
2. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of regulatory changes and ensure that the firm’s AML framework remains compliant with CBI Guideline 14 and other relevant guidelines.
3. Develop and deliver AML training programs to enhance staff awareness and foster a compliance-oriented culture.
4. Develop the process to oversee the investigation of suspicious activities and transactions in line with company policy.
5. Liaise with relevant law enforcement agencies and regulators to promote effective compliance measures and maintain strong external relationships.
Requirements
1. A proactive and detail-oriented professional with a robust background in AML compliance, holding relevant qualifications such as ICA or ACAMS.
2. Experienced in a similar Head of AML / MLRO role or in compliance within the financial services sector, with the analytical acumen to assess and mitigate risks proactively.
3. An exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with both internal teams and external regulators.
4. Strategic and organized, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while contributing to the evolution and enhancement of the firm's AML framework.
5. Committed to upholding the AML / CTF highest ethical standards in financial services.
Regulatory Knowledge
1. Deep understanding of AMLD (Anti-Money Laundering Directives), Criminal Justice Acts, PSD2, and EBA Guidelines.
2. Familiarity with CBI AML Guidelines, Individual Accountability Framework (IAF), and Risk Management Frameworks.
Professional Certifications
1. ACAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist).
2. ICA Diplomas in AML, Compliance, or Financial Crime Prevention.
3. PRM (Professional Risk Manager) or FRM (Financial Risk Manager) if risk role is combined.
4. LCOI (Licentiate of Compliance Institute) for Irish regulatory context.
