Reporting to the Executive Housekeeping Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of all facets of the Housekeeping Department ensuring high levels of cleanliness, guest service, and guest satisfaction.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in overseeing the housekeeping team, including the housekeeping supervisor, accommodation leaders, accommodation assistants, linen porters, public area attendants, turndown attendants, and other cleaning personnel.
2. Act as the Housekeeping Manager in their absence.
3. Collaborate with the housekeeping team to ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are cleaned and maintained according to established standards.
4. Assist in managing housekeeping supplies and inventory, including cleaning products, linens, and guest amenities. Maintain par levels and initiate purchase orders as needed to avoid stock shortages.
5. Assist in the scheduling and rostering of housekeeping staff, considering occupancy levels and hotel events.
6. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance employees’ skills and maintain a high level of service.
7. Help ensure the department adheres to health and safety regulations, including adequate use of chemicals and equipment.
8. Address housekeeping related requests promptly and take appropriate corrective actions to resolve issues and maintain a positive guest experience.
9. Maintain effective communication across departments to ensure smooth coordination of guest services and maintenance requests.
Essential Criteria:
1. Previous experience in housekeeping at supervisory level within a 4 or 5 star hotel.
2. A good command of the English language.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. A flexible hands-on attitude.
5. Experience in training and managing staff.
6. Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to housekeeping operations.
7. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
8. Proficiency in using computer software for scheduling, inventory management, and reporting.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Previous experience as Assistant Housekeeping Manager in a five-star hotel would be an advantage.
