The appointed Senior Engineering Design Manager has responsibility for taking the project from concept to hand over to site on behalf of the Europlan Group.
Reporting to: The Senior Engineering Design manager reports directly to the Group Board of Management on all matters relating to the project, using his program management team members as he sees fit to prepare, deliver and provide back up to his report.
The timing and format of these reports are a matter for the Board of Management to agree and deliver to the project director as a formal part of his appointment.
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineering Design Manager to lead and oversee complex engineering design projects within the Oil & Gas, Construction, and Renewable Energy sectors.
This role requires a dynamic leader with at least 10 years of experience and chartered status, who can drive innovation, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high-value engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to below: Design Leadership: Lead and oversee engineering design processes for major projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Project Management: Develop, plan, and execute engineering design strategies, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality expectations.
Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical guidance in Oil & Gas, Construction, and Renewable Energy projects, including structural, mechanical, and civil engineering aspects.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to align project objectives and ensure seamless execution.
Innovation & Development: Drive continuous improvement and innovation in engineering design methodologies, tools, and technologies.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks in engineering design and project execution phases.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs and engineering activities adhere to industry best practices, health & safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Team Leadership & Mentoring: Manage and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional development.
Contract & Budget Management: Oversee project budgets, contracts, and procurement to ensure cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
Qualifications & Experience: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation is mandatory.
Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering design management, specifically within Oil & Gas, Construction, and Renewable Energy industries.
Proven track record of managing large-scale, high-value engineering projects.
Strong knowledge of engineering software and design tools relevant to the industry.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks, health & safety standards, and environmental considerations within engineering design.
Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferred Skills: Experience with digital engineering technologies, such as BIM and CAD software.
Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract negotiations and project finance management.
Ability to drive sustainability and innovative engineering solutions.
Familiarity with international engineering standards and practices.
