The 5* Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate (part of the MHL Hotel Collection) is currently recruiting for a Wedding & Events Sales Manager to join our award-winning team.
Glenlo Abbey Hotel and Estate is located on the banks of Lough Corrib on a 138-acre estate with the original 18th century manor house dating back to the 1740's. The Hotel comprises of 73 bedrooms including 6 suites, 11 Luxury Self-Catering Lodges, Corrib Room (catering for meetings, events, and weddings for up to 170 guests), River Room Restaurant, Palmers Bar and Kitchen, 2AA Rosette Pullman Restaurant (set aboard original Dining Carriages from the Orient Express), Glo Spa & Wellness, a 9 Hole Christy O'Connor Jr designed Championship Golf course and a 21 bay driving range.
We are looking for an energetic and passionate Wedding & Events Sales Manager to join our progressive hotel group.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, this candidate will be responsible for managing the full Sales function of all Weddings & Events from initial enquiry stage through to the successful event itself.
Duties
* Leading the Wedding & Events Office and team to ensure all clients of Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate have an exceptional event whether it be a 2 person meeting or a 170 guest Wedding.
* To take ownership for the initial enquiry through to the very end including billing and follow up.
* To liaise with organisers/clients to ensure that each event/meeting runs smoothly to the guest's requirements and satisfaction.
* To be available on the day of Weddings, VIP functions etc.
* To prepare a concise, complete and accurate function sheet for each event and to update the function sheet as required.
* Manage the weekly event meeting. Ensuring all Operational Departments have timely updates and accurate information to plan service accordingly.
* Prepare and issue quotations and contracts in a timely manner and follow up on such.
* To organise "show arounds or fam trips".
* To ensure all rooms are set up as per the requirements of the Banqueting Event Order.
* Check C&B Billing on a daily basis and communicate discrepancies to Accounts Department.
* To attend trade fairs and off-site Client Entertainment where necessary.
* Working closely with Reservations Department, ensuring any Event Bedroom blocks are appropriately managed in the lead up to an event.
* To seek post event feedback from all clients and communicate weekly reports to relevant personnel.
* Prepare weekly / monthly revenue / enquiry reports in line with company standards.
* Interrogate and offer analysis on weekly / monthly reports to ensure ongoing improvements and achievement of sales targets.
* Assist in the preparation of Annual Sales Budget.
* Whilst this role is predominantly focused on reactive sales activities, there may be a requirement from time to time to complete some proactive activities, working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Requirements
* Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role in a 4* or 5* hotel, advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to multi-task, prioritise tasks and delegate activities to team members to ensure tasks are completed on time.
* This role will work across the 7 days with regular attendance on Saturdays required.
* Sales focused, target and results driven, and be a self-starter and strong closer, with multi-tasking ability.
* Effective communicator to clients and colleagues, individually or in groups.
