We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of mechanical building services for projects in the data centres, industrial/high-tech, and commercial sectors. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will oversee projects across the EMEA region, managing the full project lifecycle from initial concept to client handover. You will confidently handle project delivery while building and maintaining strong client relationships. In addition, you will mentor and guide engineering staff, ensuring all team deliverables meet our quality assurance standards before handover.About you
You must be currently based in Ireland to be considered for this role.
This role offers a hybrid remote arrangement in Ireland, requiring attendance at the Dublin office as determined by the team's schedule.
Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field – Chartered an advantage but not essential.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Mechanical Building Services design with Data Centres, Industrial, High Tech, Commercial and/or Healthcare engineering projects.
Strong knowledge of industry standards, including CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, and EN regulations.
Working knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCad and REVIT.
Any other engineering analysis software is an advantage.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Experience leading & coordinating an engineering team in the successful delivery of projects.
Inquisitive about emerging technologies and their application in your role.
Your day-to-day activities:
Lead the design, specification, and oversight of mechanical services systems, particularly HVAC, plumbing, and building systems, from concept to completion.
Ensure all designs adhere to relevant standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, EN) and promote energy-efficient and sustainable solutions across projects.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, architects, and contractors, to ensure project scope is met and systems are delivered to high quality and efficiency standards.
Manage the mechanical design process by monitoring project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Conduct regular project reviews and provide timely updates to clients.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all mechanical design-related queries, ensuring client needs are understood and addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare detailed tender packages (including specifications, drawings, and design reports) and analyze tender submissions with recommendations for contract awards.
Conduct continuous quality checks during the design and installation phases to ensure compliance with project standards and resolve any issues that arise during installation.
Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance on mechanical design and project delivery, especially in HVAC system design.
Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
Stay updated on industry advancements and implement them in design practices to improve efficiency and innovation.
