Depot Technician
A permanent role based at the Portlaoise Depot, working with the technician team to provide maintenance and repairs to the powerpacks.
Please note that the depot operates on a continental shift pattern of days and nights.
Responsibilities:
* Provide service support for all aspects of mechanical and electrical systems on the MTU1800 Power Units.
* Work to a workload plan that includes both day and night shifts, as well as a planned rotation basis.
* Ability to work on safety-critical systems and adhere to prescribed details.
* Perform high-level testing and provide fault-finding support during vehicle and system maintenance.
* Compile associated documentation and test reports.
* Promote active involvement in all aspects of QPS (Lean) initiatives.
* Ensure health and safety compliance at all times.
* Dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures.
* Adhere to written or verbal instructions.
Requirements:
* Working knowledge of Heavy-Duty Diesel Engines.
* Ability to fault-find and utilize modern diagnostic tools.
Qualifications/Education:
* Recognized Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
* Previous experience in rail or plant industry.
Demands of Role:
* Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with varying demands.
* Manual handling required.
This is a 37.5-hour per week role, covering day and night shifts.
Estimated salary: €40,000 - 50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
