About the Job
Data Center Operations Engineers deploy and maintain servers and infrastructure in our data centers.
Amazon uses large-scale, high-density data centers and supports customers 24x7 all year.
The cloud business is continuously growing and offering new features, so our data center infrastructure is always dynamic and expanding.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain a high level of system reliability by resolving trouble tickets related to Systems and Network hardware problems.
* Troubleshoot Linux server and XEN service virtualization issues.
* Remediate physical layer outages on both Systems & Network.
* Participate in Data Center power & cooling events - 24x7 On-Call requirements and shift rotations.
* Install and configure racks according to internal SLAs.
* Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices.
* Physically replace server and network devices.
* Define metrics to increase customer uptime.
* Enforce Amazon's Security Best Practices.
* Interact with third-party vendors and contractors.
* Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.
* Participate in and deliver local/regional/global projects.
* Attend team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates.
About the Team
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation.
Minimum Requirements:
* 3+ years of IT infrastructure experience.
* Basic understanding of data center facilities.
* Solid understanding of Linux/Unix Administration and server Hardware Troubleshooting and hands-on experience.
