Interim Financial Management Service Manager

Pay Rate: £47.50 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3-4 months
City: SANDYFORD
In this role, you will be responsible for translating the Cabinet’s political vision and priorities into actionable delivery, ensuring that its values are embedded across all levels of the service. You will assist in the planning and strategic direction of the service area, working closely with senior leaders to ensure objectives are achieved and aligned with the Cabinet’s priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee service performance, setting clear goals to ensure value for money and positive outcomes.
2. Ensure the delivery of quality, cost-effective services through effective planning, budgeting, and performance management.
3. Lead service delivery innovations by engaging with stakeholders to improve outcomes and meet political and financial objectives.
4. Develop and empower staff to contribute to the Council’s objectives and personal growth.
5. Support the statutory functions of the service.
6. Represent the Council when required.
7. Undertake corporate roles and additional duties as assigned.
Key requirements:
1. CCAB qualification
2. Well-developed technical, professional and legislative knowledge and understanding of national policies, statutory requirements, relevant frameworks and accountabilities in relation to local government finance.
3. Experience of establishing, maintaining and leading a high performing outcomes focused team, developing staff potential and addressing underperformance and inefficiency.
4. Experience of providing financial advice and guidance to senior managers and elected Members on local government finance and projects.
5. Track record of assisting in the leadership of a major service area that has delivered successful outcomes through collaboration, engagement and enablement of staff, service users and other stakeholders.
6. Evidence of playing a role in transforming the delivery of a service through strategic leadership, collaboration across services, partners and innovative change.
7. Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and critical influencing skills that can engage and facilitate collaborative working with a diverse range of audiences.
