Mission
Is accountable for the Mechanical deliverables to ensure the overall success of the project. In addition, the individual must be an effective communicator and team player.
Responsibilities
1. In charge of delivering a robust design in line with the requirements, constraints, and economic targets.
2. Apply the Constant Innovation Policy Handbook.
3. Applies Standardisation rules; exceptionally will request de-standardisations based on sound justifications.
4. Calls for all necessary design reviews.
5. Reports and escalates to the project manager and/or R&D Metier Manager as needed.
6. Understands the project milestones, then translates them to mechanical activities to meet the overall project milestones.
7. Documents a schedule and then follows the Mechanical activities to meet the overall project plan.
8. Regular review with the Metier Department Manager to check alignment between the needs and availabilities.
Education/Training
What education and education level are necessary for the position?
1. Relevant Mechanical Engineering Qualifications (Degree).
2. Recent relevant experience in Design 3 years +.
3. Knowledge of developing automotive cameras and/or ECUs is a distinct advantage.
4. A high degree of organization and enthusiasm and the ability to communicate competently across all working levels; Management activities, interaction with OEM Customers, suppliers, other Departments, and branches within the company.
5. Demonstrate innovation and creativity.
6. Mindset of continuous improvement and resilience.
Professional Experience
1. Involvement in P0, P1, and P2 projects (Current engineering, new customer projects, and future projects).
2. Experience in developing products from concept to production in an automotive environment.
3. Problem-solving techniques and methodical approaches to the same.
4. Operating within a high volume manufacturing environment.
5. Designing to budget.
6. Developing project plans and working within agreed plans and timelines.
7. Tooling and moulding experience - ability to identify and suggest part improvements.
8. Experience in developing 2D drawings & designing using 3D CAD - Catia V5 R24 onwards, preferred.
9. Vehicle Packaging investigations and concept evaluation.
10. Tolerance investigations and stack-up analysis experience required.
11. Detailed Drawings and Drawing Control including GD&T.
12. Interfacing across a multidisciplinary environment in a clear and effective manner must be demonstrated.
13. Experience interfacing with Suppliers and customers.
14. Exposure to and experience with Vehicle/Product verification organizing, analysis, and report writing.
15. Broad experience in injection moulding, metal casting, metal forming, adhesives, and prototype-manufacturing methods is a necessity.
16. Design Review Procedures, BOM Creation, Presentations.
17. Working within quality systems i.e. ISO / TS.
18. Experienced in MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, MiniTab, and MS PowerPoint.
19. Interpretation of the results from Simulation Reports and feeding back on the same.
