Associate General Counsel - Integrity Regulatory Legal - EMEA
Meta is seeking a highly skilled Associate General Counsel for the EMEA region. The position will provide a multitude of legal support for content, safety, and integrity regulatory issues across Meta's family of apps and services. You will manage existing and emerging content regulation across the region and advise internal teams on compliance and legal risks. The role requires big picture thinking, good judgment, a great work ethic, and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law. As part of the role, you will partner closely with other legal teams and internal stakeholders from across the business, helping to set strategy across key areas.
Responsibilities
1. Lead in-depth legal analysis on relevant laws and Codes and advise internal teams on strategies for compliance.
2. Counsel internal teams on legal requirements and compliance issues and develop thoughtful and pragmatic approaches to managing legal risks associated with the application and enforcement of myriad content regulations.
3. Assess legal, practical, and business risks quickly and accurately and present this advice to legal and non-legal leadership.
4. Manage regulatory relationships with relevant authorities and lead responses to relevant communications and requests.
5. Support and help efficiently resolve escalations involving content and integrity issues, including elections, time-sensitive issues, policy, and press inquiries, among others.
6. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on public policy, communications, global operations, legal operations, product, privacy, IP, and compliance.
7. Supervise and direct outside counsel on multiple legal matters and manage budgets.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location.
2. EU or UK qualified lawyer with 8+ years PQE in a law firm or in-house (permitted to practice in the relevant jurisdiction).
3. Demonstrated litigation experience and/or regulatory compliance experience, including experience dealing with contentious regulatory matters, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
4. Experience with Internet laws and regulation, including in emerging areas and content-related legislation and a proven record of advising on these in litigation.
5. Experience in explaining complex technologies in concise and accessible ways to courts and/or regulatory bodies.
6. Experience in mentoring and supporting staff members.
Preferred Qualifications
1. In-depth knowledge of the UK Online Safety Act and/or the EU Digital Services Act.
