The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by implementing health, safety, and environmental policies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture.
The role involves monitoring workplace conditions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing guidance and training to employees.
Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with all relevant health and safety legislation (e.g., ISO 45001, OSHA, SEVESO, etc.).
Risk Assessments & Audits: Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits, identifying hazards and implementing control measures.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and safety breaches, producing reports with corrective and preventive actions.
Policy & Procedure Implementation: Develop, update, and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
Training & Awareness: Deliver health and safety training programs, toolbox talks, and inductions to employees and contractors.
Emergency Preparedness: Coordinate fire safety, first aid, and emergency response plans, including drills and safety equipment checks.
Safety Culture & Engagement: Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with employees at all levels and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Contractor & Supplier Compliance: Ensure external contractors and suppliers adhere to company safety requirements.
Accident & Data Reporting: Maintain safety records, prepare reports, and analyze trends to improve safety performance.
Environmental & Sustainability Initiatives: Support environmental compliance efforts, including waste management, chemical handling, and sustainability programs.
Key Requirements: Education & Qualifications: Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent health and safety certification is highly desirable.
