Salary: Appointment will be made on the Senior Radiographer Scale (€57,309 - €66,363) at a point in line with Government pay policy
Hours of work: Full-Time, 35 hours per week

Purpose of the Role: Reporting to the Radiography Services Manager and his/her deputy, the position of Senior Radiographer requires an ability to lead and manage service delivery on a day-to-day basis within general radiology areas together with supporting the Clinical Specialist Radiographers in specialised areas where in-service and/or post-graduate training has been completed. An ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and willingness to undertake such additional duties as may be assigned from time to time is required.

Responsibilities
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
* Be respectful of the confidential nature of the role, in particular the patient’s right to confidentiality.
* Read and adhere to all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines of Beaumont Imaging & Interventional Radiology Directorate.
* Be aware the highest standard of hygiene must be maintained in the Hospital at all times and all staff members are responsible for ensuring compliance with the Hospitals requirements and standards with regard to hygiene.
* Ensure that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. Each staff member is individually responsible for ensuring that the Hospital remains a safe place to work.
* Be appropriate in the use of Information Technology and mindful of Confidentiality Law and Ethics, Privacy and Data Protection.
* Help with induction of new staff.
* Be responsible for ensuring high standards of radiographic images.
* Be responsible for reporting problems to Radiographic Services Manager / Deputy Re-equipment etc.
* Undertake training as required to junior Radiographers, student Radiographers, trainee Radiologists etc.
* Communicate with other members of staff to ensure efficient flow of patients through each area.
* Communicate with other Departments re patient flow e.g. ECG, Respiratory and Ward areas and liaise with clinical teams re patient queries and problems.
* Advise junior staff on Radiation Protection Protocols concerning patients and staff.
* Ensure patient comfort while in the Diagnostic Imaging Department, explaining procedures, waiting times etc.
* Participate in on-call rota and sessional duties.
* Any other duties as assigned by the Radiographic Services Manager.
* Please note all radiographers hired by Beaumont Hospital can be assigned to work in radiology installations at St Josephs Raheny, St Lukes Radiation Oncology building on Beaumont campus and Beaumont Hospitals OPD installation in the OMNI shopping centre Santry.
Professional Responsibilities:
* Ensure every patient is treated respectfully and provided with a high quality service.
* Relate to and communicate with all other staff in a courteous manner at all times.
* Attend relevant postgraduate courses as appropriate.
* Assist with the quality assurance programme.
Operations Responsibilities:
* Be responsible as a team leader on a day-to-day basis for ensuring the delivery of a caring, efficient and confidential radiographic service to the patients within the general radiology areas of the Department.
* To undertake radiographic and imaging examinations as required in the Department of Radiology and associated areas.
* Take part in “on-call” and sessional duties out of hours, on a rotational basis.
* To have a flexible approach to work so that urgent cases can be arranged and facilitated as necessary.
* To contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols and guidelines to ensure optimum utilisation of resources and systematic audit of such usage.
* To participate and advise on the equipment selection, purchase, replacement or upgrading process as required.
* To take part in in-service training as required.
* To maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical and radiographic developments in general radiography and promote awareness of new developments. Ensure that best practices are implemented and maintained.
* To attend meetings as may be requested by the Radiography Services Manager II, Radiography Services Manager I and Superintendent I and keep staff briefed on developments.
* To motivate other team members.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities:
* To take appropriate action in accordance with hospital policy in relation to complaints, accidents and incidents.
* To be accountable for the quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspects.
* To take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures as required.
* Be involved in the Radiographer’s Quality Assurance Programme and ensure that all equipment faults and issues are recorded and reported to the RSM I and RSM II.
* To be familiar with, and ensure that Radiation Protection Rules and Regulations are applied at all times.
* To ensure all hospital policies on infection control, health and safety etc., are understood and complied with.
* To take responsibility for keeping the department in general and their work area specifically, clean, tidy and safe.
* To pay particular attention to personal appearance while on duty.

Qualifications
Selection Criteria:
Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.

Mandatory:
* Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
(a) Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Have 3 years full-time (or an aggregate of 3 years) post qualification clinical experience.
AND
(iii) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
AND
(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
* Annual registration
(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Radiographers division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Technical/Clinical Competencies Required:
* Radiographic skills to provide a comprehensive service to patients in the area of assignment.
* Working knowledge of radiation protection legislation and guidelines.
* Practical application of best practice guidelines and protocols in Radiography.
* IT Skills.
Desirable:
Basic life support.
