Job Title: Food Safety & Quality Lead, Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland

Pepsi Lipton is a Joint Venture formed between Unilever and PepsiCo to capitalise on the growth of the ready-to-drink tea segment. It is a global business worth ca. 3 billion USD today, growing volume at the rate of ca. 4-5%.
Unilever supports the Pepsi Lipton Joint Venture through the Global Ready to Drink supply chain network. This network comprises of Unilever owned Instant Tea Powder factories in Sri Lanka India and 3rd party Suppliers who supply ingredients to Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland in Cork where concentrate kits are manufactured and supplied to the Joint Venture.
JOB PURPOSE
The Food Safety & Quality Lead role is based at the Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland factory and is responsible for overseeing both the food safety & quality governance of on-site operations, as well as being the main quality connection between Unilever and the Pepsi Lipton joint venture. The role is focused on ensuring highest standards of food safety and quality are delivered, and in shaping and driving a strong plan for longer term improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for end-to-end quality – from raw materials intake through to kit delivery.
2. Shape the vision for driving world class food safety & quality standards at the Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland (LSDI) factory and wider Unilever Global RTD supply chain.
3. Drive delivery of identified improvement initiatives and longer-term strategies through active engagement with the factory team, wider supply chain, customers and suppliers.
4. Own the process of resolution of food safety or quality issues related to LSDI, leading root cause analysis, implementation of actions, ensure ongoing compliance and communication with key stakeholders.
5. Enable the whole Quality team at LSDI to work most effectively by finding opportunities for improvement in processes with customers and external suppliers, and ensuring their delivery by the whole team.
6. Lead the strategic agenda to transform traceability and quality control systems at LSDI as part of a wider SAP implementation project.
7. Oversee operations of third-party quality control laboratory, including review and approval of chemistry and sensory test results. Manage QC clearance and address blocked stock issues.
8. Conduct internal audits, including evaluations of third-party warehouses, prepare and support external audits, such as FSSC22000, HSE, SMETA, Rainforest Alliance, Halal and Kosher certifications.
9. Lead the change management process for new products and set up bag & case labels for new kits.
10. Oversee and coordinate the training of the production operators. This will include keeping records of all training activities, including progress and outcomes.
11. Participate in the Safety & Environment team.
12. Backfill for the Portfolio & Innovations planning role as needed.
ALL ABOUT YOU
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Food Science or a related field.
2. Experience in food safety and quality management within the food industry.
3. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and audit processes (e.g., FSSC22000, HSE).
4. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with expertise in root cause analysis.
5. Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
6. Proficiency in using quality control systems and tools for traceability and compliance.
