Keelings is hiring experienced Machine Operators for full-time roles in St. Margaret's, Co. Dublin.
Shift Pattern:
6am-2pm/2pm-10pm/10pm-6am
You will be expected to work all of the above shifts, rostered any 5 over 7, including weekends and nights depending on business requirements. There is a night premium and Sunday premium.
Main Responsibilities
1. Machine Operation
o Ensure the team is working to achieve maximum efficiency based on the defined machine potential.
o Carry out change in line with defined roles and responsibilities and the formal process.
o Set up packaging for the line as required to minimize downtime.
o Set up printers as required.
o Reconcile the recorded units on the weight recording system vs what was physically produced and escalate if necessary.
o Start and stop the line with production run size.
o Ensure correct programs are selected on the relevant systems inputting the correct run size including weight checkers.
o Validate calibration of Marco scales at the start of shift and record on relevant documentation.
o Check packs during production to ensure finished goods meet customer specifications in terms of quality and presentation.
o Ensure all scales are tarred correctly before the start of every run as applicable.
o Plan and prepare the heating of the sealing tools in line with the production plan in order to minimize downtime where applicable.
o Carry out spot checks on weights and record as required.
2. Packaging and Labels
o Ensure that the right packaging is available in advance of the changeover at each packing side.
o Check over the line side supply of packaging at start of shift to ensure you have a sufficient supply and escalate to a Team Leader if necessary.
o Ensure that the required label samples are being taken for verification and leave in the provided folder.
o Ensure that all waste packaging is collected in to bins provided.
o Cross check labels against raw material to ensure they are correct.
o Keep a sample of the film/labels from every production and place in the relevant folder.
o Check, sign off and collect labels from the label room.
o Ensure that all issues which can't be resolved by you are escalated to a Team Leader or Packhouse Shift Manager.
3. Safety and Hygiene
o Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times and escalate issues to Team Leader or Shift Manager for resolution.
o Hygiene - packing areas/machines must be maintained to Site Quality system standards.
o Personal hygiene standards must be upheld at all times; ensure all team members on shift are compliant with this.
o Quality - must ensure that product is handled and packed to ensure we supply our customers with product that meets the specification.
o Ensure pre-op check is carried out before using any equipment/machinery.
o Machine defects must be reported to a Team Leader as required and stop the line if needed.
o Responsible for food safety, quality, and integrity in your role-specific tasks.
o Responsible for conducting/supervising Critical Control Point verification checks (Metal Detection) where required.
4. Communication
o Close liaison with area FLT driver to ensure that raw material is available at machine for packing in a timely fashion and in advance of the changeover.
o Conduct hand-over with colleagues detailing machine issues that have arisen and ensure clarity of packing plan status.
o Work in partnership with QA Team to keep the work area clear of finished goods.
o Inform FLT of crates and boxes needed ahead of next production.
o Work with FLT driver to keep the floor clear ensuring that everything is placed on the floor according to the defined layout.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Previous experience as a Machine Operator in a production/manufacturing environment.
* To support, drive and identify continuous improvement activities.
* Flexibility to meet and support the demands of the business.
* Capacity and willingness to learn.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
