Hours of Work: 258 hours, 2 days per week, during term time with the exception of 2 days allocated for assessments.
Post Duration: Specified purpose contract backfilling maternity leave from 18th November 2024 until 30th May 2025

Salary: Part-Time Lecturer Hourly Rate - €64.56 per hour

The School of Fine Art supports students to develop highly individual and collaborative ways of seeing, interpreting, and acting visually in the world. Emphasis is placed on visual awareness and artistic analysis, and on acquiring and deploying appropriate skills across a spectrum of fundamental and new materials and media.
These posts will be an integral part of the academic management/leadership within the discipline, Department, School and College.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* The candidate will deliver teaching in print in the specific area of etching/intaglio and contemporary photo-intaglio process.
* Update and coordinate content on CANVAS – the students’ Virtual Learning Environment.
* Be interested in developing ways in which the medium may expand into hybrid and rapid prototyping processes through engagement with the NCAD William Walsh Workshop (Laser engraving, CNC Routing, 3D printing etc).
* Actively contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the School of Fine Art, and in the Print Department including module or programme design and delivery, examination and assessment, quality assurance and enhancement and associated administration.
* Develop and implement new course curriculum within the Print Department, including the co-ordination of course content, delivery and assessment.
* Enhance and promote the reputation of our academic provision by liaising and co-operating with other national and international institutions.
* Ensure the curriculum content of our programmes reflect and meet with the requirements of a variety of models of Fine Art fields of practice and momentum, including regularly reviewing and adapting course content and structure.
* Engage in the student recruitment process including interviews, selection, assessments and examination procedures as required to ensure appropriate number and level of student cohort.
* Engage with industry and research partners, leading projects and knowledge exchange activities.
* Participate in Department/School/College committees and boards.
* Undertake such other duties as may be assigned by the Appropriate Officer from time to time.
Selection Criteria
Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.
Mandatory:
* A significant track record in Fine Art facing contemporary print practices, particularly in the area of etching/intaglio and photo-intaglio processes, and Higher Education teaching.
* Post-graduate degree in Fine Art or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
* A minimum of 3 years industry and/or teaching experience.
* Experience of delivering high quality teaching within a higher education environment or equivalent.
* Capacity and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary context within the Department, School and College.
* Proficiency in digital software.
* Experience in working with digital and analogue print workshop outputs and in maintaining an active interest in related developments within the sector.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong leadership skills.
Desirable:
* Demonstrable record of developing and maintain intercollegiate links.
* Demonstrable record of developing industry partnerships.
* Ability to design, deliver and assess a range of modules in and related to specialist areas of research/professional interest.
* Commitment to CPD and interest in emerging research, technology and techniques.
