Job Description:
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* This is a hands-on role with responsibilities for the planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of all existing electrical infrastructure.
* The post holder will be responsible for the repair and installation of current and new electrical requirements and refurbishments.
* Responsibly and ownership of all electrical equipment and its uptime throughout the hospital extends to the full range of equipment and any other duties assigned/deemed appropriate to the post.
* An exemplar list includes but is not limited to:
o Installation or maintenance of fabrics, structures, buildings, equipment, plant and systems throughout the Hospital.
o Evaluate all installation/maintenance work to ensure it is carried out to the appropriate standard and in accordance with manufacturers specifications and current regulations.
o Arrange and coordinate, where necessary, assistance from other trades.
o Provide other trades assistance as may be required (example Mechanical and Electrical).
o Carry out daily/weekly inspections of all plant rooms and of electrical equipment throughout the Hospital and report back any findings.
o Receive and record details concerning accidents, incidents, mishaps, complaints and defects in equipment and investigate the circumstances of such occurrences with appropriate staff and report findings as requested.
o Liaise with departmental managers (users) as required.
o To appraise their immediate supervisor of any personal difficulties that might adversely affect the performance of their assigned duties.
o Perform the duties of an electrician in any department of the Hospital site or other such locations as may be required by the Hospital.
o Maintain at all times a satisfactory standard of work.
o Perform tasks appropriate to his/her trade as may be assigned by the Engineering Supervisor, FED management or their agents.
o Participate in education and training when appropriate or assigned.
o Carry pager or other such communications device, if required.
o Participate in on call/standby Emergency Rota if/when deemed appropriate by FED management and requested by them.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain records, systems and supporting documentation as required to ensure that all documentation within the department is completed satisfactorily and efficiently.
Create and promote open communications, healthy working relationships, and stimulate initiative within the department.
Information Technology:
Ensure that the electrical services make effective and efficient use of developments in information technology and in particular the Building Management System.
Health and Safety:
Please note that the Post holder has personal responsibility for their Health, Safety and Welfare at Work.
Responsible for ensuring that materials used are healthcare safe and appropriate.
Responsible for planning and undertaking works throughout the hospital including specialist healthcare areas.
Responsible for undertaking hospital surveys to assess needs and plan works.
Accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor and other Professional Technical Team Members.
Working and integrating within the FED to ensure delivery of high quality services.
Any other duties deemed appropriate to the post.
