REPORTING TO: Site Manager
ROLE PURPOSE: The Storeman is responsible for managing the storage, distribution, and inventory of materials and equipment on a construction site. This role ensures that all materials are available when needed and that the storage area is organized and secure.
Role Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management:
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all materials and equipment.
2. Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
3. Monitor stock levels and reorder materials as necessary to prevent shortages.
4. Use inventory management software to track and manage stock.
2. Receiving and Dispatching:
1. Receive and inspect deliveries for accuracy and quality.
2. Verify delivery notes against purchase orders and report any discrepancies.
3. Ensure proper storage of materials, following safety and organizational guidelines.
4. Prepare materials and equipment for dispatch to various site locations as required.
3. Storage Organization:
1. Implement and maintain a systematic storage system to ensure easy access and retrieval of materials.
2. Label and categorize materials and equipment for efficient identification.
3. Keep the storage area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
4. Ensure that all materials are stored in a manner that prevents damage and deterioration.
4. Material Handling:
1. Safely handle and move materials and equipment using appropriate tools and machinery, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
2. Follow proper lifting techniques and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
3. Assist with the loading and unloading of materials from delivery vehicles.
5. Coordination:
1. Work closely with site managers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure timely availability of materials.
2. Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors regarding delivery schedules and material requirements.
3. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials.
6. Safety Compliance:
1. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
2. Conduct regular safety inspections of the storage area and report any hazards or issues.
3. Ensure that all materials are stored and handled in a safe manner to prevent accidents and injuries.
4. Participate in safety training and drills as required.
7. Documentation:
1. Maintain accurate records of all transactions, including receipts, dispatches, and stock levels.
2. Prepare and submit regular inventory reports to management.
3. Keep detailed logs of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
4. Ensure all documentation is filed and stored securely.
H&S Responsibilities

Observe the Company personal hygiene requirements. Set an example of safe, correct behaviour, particularly to new entrants and young persons. Report any hazard / defect you may observe promptly to your immediate line manager. Report any shortcomings in systems of work or procedures to your line manager. Not to interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare or yourselves or your work colleagues. To comply with safe systems of work at all times. To advise managers when not trained for tasks you are being asked to carry out.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
1. Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
2. Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Proficiency in inventory management software is a plus.
3. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials. Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
4. Certifications: Safe Pass/CSR and Manual handling certificates are mandatory for this role. Other experienced operator tickets are beneficial but not a requirement.
