Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Physical Design Engineer to join our global team, based in Cork City, Ireland. As part of this team, you will drive and execute on all phases of the complete physical design flow for next-generation System-on-Chips (SOCs) in bleeding-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Execute physical design from floorplan to GDS for high-speed complex designs with aggressive Performance, Power, and Area (PPA) targets.
* Manage schedules, plans, status, risks, and support cross-functional engineering efforts.
* Collaborate with design and Digital Front-end Test (DFT) teams to understand design in the context of physical design timing closure and power optimization.
* Stay up-to-date on industry trends and innovations in physical design, ensuring solutions and deliverables align with best practices.
* Analyze test results using statistics and data predictions to track benchmarks and identify issues or areas for improvement.
* Work across teams to align on PPA improvement areas and ensure targets are met, while ensuring designs are innovative and compatible with highest standards.
* Participate in researching innovative methodologies for pushing PPA limits in physical design, including developing new scripts and flows.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
* At least 3 years of relevant experience in Physical Design.
* Familiarity with the entire PD flow from netlist to GDS, including Floorplanning, Power planning, Placement/CTS/Routing, and corresponding optimization steps.
* Experience with tools for physical design implementation in advanced technology nodes (10nm and below).
* Knowledge of low power designs and UPF/CPF flows, as well as Conformal Low Power (CLP).
* Strong understanding of Static Timing Analysis (STA) and timing closure methodologies, including effects on congestion/routing/power.
* Understanding of power analysis and power integrity analysis.
* Knowledge of Physical Verification and DRC closure.
* Expertise in automation skills using Perl and TCL, with ability to develop/support flows related to physical design.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
