The Director of Clinical Operations is a senior executive role, reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient clinical operations across Highfield Healthcare.
The role involves direct responsibility for senior managers, including the Head of Quality and Patient Safety, and requires close collaboration with the Clinical Director, Medical Director, and Nursing Directors and the wider Executive Directors. A key focus is ensuring compliance with standards set by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and the Mental Health Commission (MHC) and embedding a culture of quality and accountability across all services. The Director of Clinical Operations will have a leadership role in clinical governance committees, ensuring that governance actions are prioritised, tracked, and implemented effectively.
In addition, the post holder is responsible for optimising resources, enhancing operational efficiencies, and ensuring that critical operational data, such as occupancy, referrals, and admission trends, is communicated promptly and accurately to relevant stakeholders to support effective decision-making.
Eligibility Criteria
* A clinical qualification in nursing, allied health/health and social care, medicine, or a related discipline is essential.
* A qualification in healthcare management, business administration, or a related field is desirable. A master’s degree in healthcare management, clinical leadership, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
* Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a patient-facing clinical practice role. Candidates must have at least 5 years of management experience within the healthcare sector.
* Extensive experience in clinical and quality management, with a proven track record of playing a leadership role in clinical governance.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and develop multidisciplinary teams, including senior managers and service leads.
* Strong understanding of HIQA and MHC standards, with experience of inspections and audits.
* Experience in effectively sharing operational data to support decision-making and resource planning.
* Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and resource optimisation.
