Job Description:
Overview: KAON Automation is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to excel in the field of automation. Since 2005, KAON Automation has been providing custom designed automation solutions to leading manufacturing companies globally, with a proven track record of delivering innovative and flexible solutions. A successful candidate will work on challenging, innovative projects within a highly technical and collaborative working group. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work within the design team to develop innovative concepts from customer requirements.
2. 3D Design of Mechatronic equipment including mechanisms, transfer systems, servo systems, robotics, pneumatics, electrical equipment, and machine guarding systems.
3. Hands-on involvement at the build and de-bug stage to ensure designs meet performance specifications.
4. Take responsibility for large projects and manage cross-functional teams through the life cycle of a project.
5. Give guidance and direction to machine build technicians to help them realize designs and ensure that the customer end goals are being achieved.
6. Design and implement process improvements for existing automation equipment.
7. Prepare detailed tooling drawings and pneumatic schematics.
8. Liaise with suppliers for component procurement.
9. Liaise with customers on requirement specifications and project deliverables.
10. Prepare detailed safety risk assessments and FMEAs.
11. Develop machine documentation to meet EU standards.
12. Meet project delivery deadlines.
Excellent communication skills are vital as you will have to work within a technical team and be expected to communicate on job specification and issues occurring on a day-to-day basis.
Key Requirements:
1. Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. Minimum 4 years relevant experience including involvement in significant automation projects with responsibility for design sign off, installation, and commissioning.
3. Extensive experience in a machine design role.
4. Strong experience using 3D CAD applications (e.g., SolidWorks).
5. Excellent communication skills are vital to communicate effectively on job specification, technical direction, and daily issues.
6. Must be a self-starter with good attention to detail, willing to take ownership and responsibility to realize project milestones and timelines.
7. Must be keenly interested in engineering technology and remain knowledgeable about the cutting edge of automation technology.
8. Project management experience advantageous.
9. Proven track record in problem-solving and delivering solutions.
10. Demonstrate ability to take initiative and be innovative.
11. Current driving license and able to travel as required.
