We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to guide the strategic direction and oversee the operational management of the recently merged Careers and Employability Service at Maynooth University. This five-year appointment, within the Student Skills and Success division of the Office for Students and Learning, offers a unique opportunity to shape a crucial student service dedicated to empowering students with future-focused skills and competencies. The successful candidate will lead the Careers and Employability team and collaborate closely with colleagues across Student Skills and Success, the Office for Students and Learning, and the broader university community, as well as with the Maynooth Students’ Union, employer, alumni, and industry partners.
The Head of the Careers and Employability Service will be instrumental in leading and driving innovation within the service. The appointee will play a key role in nurturing and developing a highly capable and expanding team, enhancing the employability prospects of our students, fostering strong partnerships with external stakeholders, and delivering innovative programmes that equip students with the skills and experiences needed to excel in their careers or further studies. This role plays a central part in supporting Maynooth University’s strategic plan (2023-2028) and its core mission, “To imagine and create better futures for all,” enabling our graduates to become “highly employable next-generation creators and decision-makers.”
The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of relevant experience in careers and/or employability within higher education, and demonstrate a strong, student-centred ethos, with a genuine passion for student success, career development, and employability. Reporting to the Head of Student Skills and Success, the new leader will ensure the Careers and Employability Service aligns with institutional priorities, meets the needs of diverse internal and external stakeholders and drives innovation and service excellence.
Salary: Senior Administrative Officer IV (2024): €67,981– €107,942 p.a. (7 points)
Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
