ROLE SUMMARY (purpose)
* To provide best in class engineering design and project management services to the operating business through innovative cost-effective solutions, carried out in a safe and consistent manner throughout the business.
* Ensure engineering projects are delivered to budget and in compliance with company Health & Safety Policies, Technical Standards and Procurement Guidance.
* To support the lime operations team, site-based electrical control and reliability functions with technical and design leadership during plant improvement, safety compliance and process optimization projects.
* To support the engineering management function, providing representation for the department, reporting directly to Location Manager Carlow. Also, to support the continuous development of junior engineering team members and support Location Managers in supervisory roles where required.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
REPORTS TO (TITLE): Location Manager - Carlow
DIRECT & INDIRECT REPORTS: Management and Health & Safety of contractors, site-based employees working on projects.
KEY INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Location Managers- Carlow & Ennis, Operational; Maintenance Team- Mechanical & Electrical; Lime Safety- Health & Safety Co-Ordinator; Electrical Control Engineers - External; Site Mechanical, Electrical and Process Teams.
KEY EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Suppliers; Engineers, Designers and Consultants; Contracting Company Management & Employees.
Accountabilities
* Ensure compliance with statutory Health and Safety requirements, company and local SHE policies. Proactively manage health and safety performance and behavior of the external contractors to continually improve safety practices and standards.
* To support the engineering function.
Outputs (results Required)
* To design, scope and implement projects. Take ownership and responsibility of the budget and phasing priorities for individual capital projects to ensure delivery is to the agreed outcomes in terms of plant performance, usage or safety.
* Ensure all projects are designed to achieve the lowest cost of ownership possible.
* Identify opportunities for cost saving on projects and develop solutions.
* Develop relationships with key Stakeholders.
* Provide direction and supervision for external contractors.
* Drive zero harm culture, reduction in AIFR.
* Support mental health awareness within the department.
* Engage in the department's tracking of short and medium-term resource requirements for electrical/Mechanical projects to highlight subsequent threats and opportunities.
* Engage in the department's reporting processes to feedback findings to the above tracking, covering assessment of existing contractor performance (value, H&S and skills ratings etc). Also to develop working relations with new potential installation companies, equipment suppliers and specialist resourcing.
* Engage start of project decision-making process for selection of contractor, budget setting and project direction.
* Support in the creation and delivery of Capex CIA’s.
* Deliver effective solutions that meet the needs of site production and the business.
* Deliver projects within agreed timescales and technical standards.
* Deliver projects efficiently and professionally.
* Deliver best practice and process continuous improvement to the business.
* Optimise project delivery in terms of energy saving, spares compatibility and automation.
* Ensure an efficient and appropriate allocation of resources to projects.
* Optimise contractor skills and performance to deliver quality projects efficiently and safely.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
QUALIFICATIONS
* Degree or equivalent in a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline preferred, (Trade level considered, subject to experience).
* IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate advantageous.
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 2 years’ mechanical biased experience in an industrial environment, particularly in roles covering project engineering, plant safety and process optimisation works.
* Good understanding of Irish standards and statutory legislation.
* Material handling plant experience and working knowledge of plant processes would be preferable including selection and procurement of equipment.
* Experience of solving complex problems, troubleshooting and RCA based plant improvement opportunities.
* AutoCAD, Windows including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
