Senior Model Engineer, Preclinical

What you will do:
* Support all non-North America neurovascular model development activities and services while being on the forefront of novel in-vitro testing technologies/techniques including case analysis and adaptation.
* Support the modeling needs of global R&D, the commercial organization, and clinical patient specific modeling for pre-case planning.
* Viewed as departmental resource.
* Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines and customer needs.
* Works closely with stroke hospital center imaging SMEs and staff to educate on/troubleshoot/acquire DICOM datasets appropriate for model manufacturing.
* Segmentation and conversion of medical imaging datasets (DICOMS) to CAD files for manufacturing.
* CAD fixturing of patient specific models to fit existing flow systems.
* Flexible resin 3D printing and post processing expert for various vascular intra and extracranial anatomies.
* Designs, procures, and fabricates preclinical tooling and fixtures.
* Performs troubleshooting on new test systems/process problems as related to design, material, or process.
* Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results.
* Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.
* Responsible for engineering documentation.
* May train and/or provide work direction to technicians.
* May work with quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
* Build quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
* Patient specific pathology models from CT and MRI scans Skilled at design, fabrication, and assembly of models and fixtures, with a significant hands-on component.
* Interfaces with Preclinical, R&D and Marketing to understand the complexities of the neurovascular and evolving disease/treatment state.
* In coordination with R&D and Preclinical determines validation strategies for new models and/or fixtures and supports writing of validation protocols and reports applicable to new models and/or fixtures.
* Maintenance of the model electronic database and physician storage.
* Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the model development work in total project of moderate to complex scope.
* Development of new models and/or materials or improvement of existing models.
* Interfaces with material or model vendors and other outside specialists.
* Independently interfaces with Physicians/Cath Lab personnel to obtain feedback on models and/or fixtures.
* Becoming a divisional model development SME.
* With oversight, leads the development, timeline, and budget of functional modeling projects.
* Engages R&D Franchise leaders to understand unmet model needs, develops yearly strategies to address.
* Provides mentoring and/or training on advanced software and imaging.
What you need:
* Level 8 Degree in Engineering or applicable technical field is required (biomedical preferred).
* 2+ years’ relevant experience required (within the medical device industry preferred).
* Prior experience in medical device development.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with good leadership abilities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Previous segmentation experience converting medical imaging datasets (DICOMS) to CAD files for manufacturing. Knowledge of Brain Anatomy.
* Strong technical capabilities and project management capability to develop aspects of assigned projects on time and within budget.
