**Job Description:**
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for ensuring that ABEC's operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable regulations at all times and in all locations on a world-wide basis.
This includes maintaining constant awareness of current applicable regulations and having appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions in place to address such regulations.
The incumbent will ensure that all employees are trained in procedures relevant to their area of operations and will verify that those procedures are followed properly by conducting internal audits and inspections as needed.
This role will interface closely with all levels of the Manufacturing function on a global basis and interact with Quality Control and HR functions to ensure a common understanding of company objectives, operational strategies, and cross-functional compliance at all levels of the organization.
**Responsibilities:**
* Provide safety support and information to employees.
* Identify safety training needs and coordinate safety training programs.
* Assist in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment activities.
* Develop/Update Job Safety Analyses/Risk Assessments as needed.
* Perform internal safety audits.
* Support emergency preparedness procedures.
* Assist in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
* Promote safety awareness through communication and specific training programs.
* Chair plants' Safety Committee meetings and communicate best practices with other sites.
* Schedule/Conduct/Evaluate Emergency Response Drills at site.
* Successfully manage and complete all EHS related work assignments and duties in a timely manner.
* Conduct effective EHS related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
* Assist in the development and implementation of EHS related policies, procedures, and programs to assure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company-specific regulations & requirements.
* Review incident reports (accidents and near misses) and follow-up as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of all information provided.
* Conduct EHS related workplace inspections and participate in accident/incident investigations to identify root-cause and appropriate corrective actions.
* Coordinate with HR on Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work matters.
* Properly respond to day-to-day EHS related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
* Maintain required detailed recordkeeping; report EHS required data to Corporate Office.
* Monitor and report on plant safety goals and objectives.
* Ensure understanding of all EHS and regulatory requirements needed to maintain a safe work environment.
* Execute other tasks as assigned.
* Conduct quarterly waste-water reports.
* Conduct chemical audits and usage reports.
* Ability to travel when required.
* Enforce positive safety culture and hold all employees accountable for the ABEC safety program.
* Enter safety data for safety observation reports.
* Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.
* Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.
**Requirements:**
* 5 -10 years' experience at a management level in this specific discipline, preferably with direct responsibility for multi-site operations, both domestic, international and 2-3 years' experience in running a site safety program.
* Level 7 degree, ideally related to workplace safety, industrial engineering, or similar discipline.
* Practical knowledge of HSA (Ireland) & OSHA (USA) regulatory requirements.
* Experience with HSA compliance.
* Applies engineering controls, administrative procedures and work practices to address EHS risks.
* Manages the compiling, updating and analysis of all appropriate data to ensure EHS compliance with government regulations and company standards.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
* Must be flexible, innovative and comfortable in setting own priorities.
* Polished presentation, business acumen and facilitation skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with professional presentation and negotiation skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly to all levels of management.
* Ability to obtain a CIF safety supervisor certification.
* Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
