This role would suit someone with broad mechanical expertise, ensuring the boat remains in perfect operational order. Additionally, strong leadership, resilience, and management skills are essential for navigating challenges, identifying and resolving defects, and effectively implementing maintenance plans. Your role The role of Senior Station Technician is focused for those individuals with a Republic of Ireland (ROI) NFQ Level 6 or higher in an engineering discipline, or time served engineering apprenticeship, or a sound mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering background with extensive demonstrable experience. If these qualifications or experience are not held then suitable individuals may be offered a Station Technician role in lieu in Grade D, and targeted training will be provided to reach the required standard. In either role, most of your time will be spent ensuring that the boat is kept in the best possible condition. You will also ensure that the station functions on a day-to-day basis. You will be involved in the technical training of volunteer crew members - so that when an emergency shout does occur, you, your crew, and your boat will be absolutely prepared. Your role will include: - Implementing the planned and preventative maintenance schedule. - Fault finding, diagnostics, and defects reporting. Developing solutions to ensure the boat is always ready for operation. - Working with the Area Technical Manager, the Senior Regional Technician, and the Regional Technical Cell to ensure smooth operations by resolving problems effectively and efficiently as they arise. - Inspiring and motivating the volunteer technical crew; supporting their development, conducting shore-based training, identifying ways they can improve, and imparting your valuable knowledge. - Taking a lead on Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental issues, helping to develop a positive culture within the station. - Spending time in the day to day running of the station; this may be in the form of answering e-mails, ensuring records are maintained, and working with the Operations Team. This is an emergency response role so the successful candidates would need to live within a reasonable distance from the station and be prepared to respond to a pager 24/7 whilst on duty.
