Bookkeeper Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeper to join our team at Markree Castle.
Main Duties:
* Oversight of day-to-day finance operations, including computing, recording, collecting, analysing and verifying numerical data for maintaining accounting records.
* Delivering accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring proper internal controls over key financial processes.
* Generating bills and collecting revenue owed to the hotel in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
* Assisting the General Manager in directing financial activities.
Accounting Responsibilities:
* Managing all aspects of accounting records, including accounts receivable, payable, payroll, and General Ledger reporting.
* Managing cash handling functions, reconciling cash and credit card receipts, and investigating discrepancies.
* Producing weekly revenue and payroll reports, monthly management accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Preparing bi-monthly VAT returns and submitting to Revenue.
* Maintaining ledgers of the property management system and co-ordinating with the Front Office team on resolving imbalances.
* Maintaining payroll, including recording new employee commencements, managing Time & Attendance, and processing weekly payroll.
* Maintaining accounts receivable, including set up of new credit customers, issuing invoices, and ensuring payments are received within credit terms.
* Maintaining accounts payable, including processing invoices, reconciliation of supplier payments, and preparation of monthly supplier payment runs.
Requirements:
* Permission to work in the Republic of Ireland.
* Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
* Experience in payroll is desirable.
* Knowledge of Sage 50 accounts, Sage Micropay, and PMS system Roommaster is an advantage.
* Knowledge of Revenue VAT and PAYE returns is an advantage.
* Excellent communication skills with great attention to detail.
* Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Fluent written and spoken English.

€40,000 - €60,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
