Safety Officer | Galway
Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a reputable main contractor in the search for a Safety Officer to join their team in Galway. This permanent role offers an excellent opportunity to work with an established contractor that has a strong pipeline of projects across various sectors.
Responsibilities for Safety Officer:
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations on-site.
* Conduct site inspections and audits, identifying risks and recommending improvements.
* Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks to site teams.
* Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans.
* Investigate incidents and accidents, ensuring corrective measures are put in place.
* Maintain accurate records and reports in line with company policies and HSA requirements.
* Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and site teams to foster a strong safety culture.
Requirements for Safety Officer:
* 2-3 years’ experience in a health & safety role within the construction industry.
* Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., Diploma in Health & Safety or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and best practices.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* A proactive approach to site safety and risk management.
