The Role
We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to lead and implement high EHS standards at our Cork site. The successful candidate will work closely with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and management to develop and implement EHS strategies.
Main Responsibilities:
* Interpret regulatory changes and provide guidance on compliance with Health and Safety legislation, IE Licensing, and ISO45001/ISO14001 Standard.
* Provide EHS support to the Cork site operation to ensure compliance with Lower Tier SEVESO and ATEX requirements.
* Perform EHS assessments and approve process and equipment changes.
* Maintain relationships with the EHS team, Operational Area Managers, and Functional Managers to develop and implement EHS strategies.
* Work with Regulatory Authorities, external and internal stakeholders, and local management to achieve EHS goals.
* Seek opportunities to improve a proactive EHS operating culture.
* Involvement in site and EHS Goals & Objectives, Corporate Responsibility/Sustainability goals.
* Lead audits and inspections, compile EHS metrics and KPIs data, and trend for Corporate EHS and site Management.
* Maintain EHS systems, including Chemical Management System, Accident/Incident reporting system, Occupational monitoring, etc., and participate in Root Cause Investigations as required.
* Complete Risk Assessments in conjunction with area experts as required.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* A Higher Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent, minimum 3 years post-qualification experience.
* Extensive experience within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably in Life Science or Pharmaceutical.
* Strong experience in chemical management system and machine safety, and/or regulatory/IE Licensing.
* Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to influence and motivate colleagues.
* A passion for EHS to continuously improve performance by implementing new ideas.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficiency in Microsoft packages.
