What is the Role
At SSE Renewables, our mission is to deliver the green energy the world needs now and in the future. We are looking for engineering students in the 3rd or 4th year of their studies with a real interest in renewable energy, innovation and sustainability to join us for a 12-week summer placement. As a summer intern joining SSE Renewables, you will have the opportunity to work in a team focused on one of our technologies including solar and battery, hydro, onshore and offshore wind. Working in a team of technical experts in your core discipline, you will gain exposure to the day-to-day work of the engineers who plan, deliver and manage our renewable assets.
Each summer intern will have a unique experience and will deliver meaningful work to their team, putting into practice the knowledge gained during your studies. You will be assigned projects relevant to your degree discipline to work on throughout your placement and have the support of a engineering manager and graduate buddy to enable you to make the most of your 12 weeks. Previous summer interns have delivered valuable research papers, presented findings to senior leaders, implemented new tools and processes, and worked with our supply chain on project delivery. You will have the opportunity for site visits which could include the visiting the recently modernised Tummel Hydro Plant, journeying out to offshore turbines at Seagreen or view the construction of world’s largest offshore windfarm at Dogger Bank.
Placements start in June 2025 for a duration of 12 weeks.
