We are seeking an Energy Auditor to visually inspect buildings and related systems including mechanical, electrical, and process systems to determine energy consumption in each area or system.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity to work in a high calibre Energy Consulting team which delivers Energy Master Plans and Energy Audits across Ireland. The successful candidate will be working with a public sector body and will report to the Energy Bureau Manager. You will work within a very experienced and dynamic team, carrying out energy audits and helping the client reach its 2030/2050 energy targets. Experience of energy auditing is required and ongoing energy audit training and mentoring by an industry-leading team will be provided for the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver accurate and impartial advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and transport energy to a Public Sector body.
2. Maintain an up to date working knowledge of sustainable energy matters and keeping the relevant information, literature, and documentation available for review.
3. Develop Registers of opportunities for Energy and carbon emissions reduction initiatives and works.
4. Put into effect deductions in Energy Usage and Carbon Emissions in the area assigned to him/her through behavioural awareness programs and through liaison with existing Energy Management Teams.
5. Complete administrative duties as required.
6. Identify energy efficiency projects for implementation.
7. Provide project development support. Ensure all legislative obligations are complied with.
8. Conduct thorough on-site energy audits of buildings and facilities, evaluating energy systems, equipment, and processes.
9. Collect and analyse data related to energy consumption, including utility bills, energy usage logs, and equipment specifications.
10. Use specialized tools and equipment to measure and evaluate energy performance, including infrared cameras, data loggers, and energy meters.
11. Identify areas of energy waste, such as inefficient lighting, HVAC systems, insulation, and appliances.
12. Develop and recommend energy-saving strategies and measures, including renewable energy options, behavioural changes and equipment upgrades.
13. Prepare detailed reports, presenting energy audit findings, recommendations, and estimated cost savings to clients.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
1. Level 8 qualification in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Science, or Construction.
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in technical task management in a professional setting.
3. Minimum 1 years’ experience in energy auditing.
4. Good technical analysis skills and solution-focused approach.
5. Good level of written and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Ability to work well in a team and independently when required.
7. A good understanding of MS Office programmes including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
8. Full clean driving licence and car.
9. An interest in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Desirable:
1. Understanding of the commercial aspects of retrofit for non-domestic properties including financial supports available.
2. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) qualification.
3. Qualified Domestic or Non Domestic BER assessor.
4. A good understanding of the fabric of commercial, public, and private buildings.
5. Some experience in drawing packages such as CAD & GIS.
The position is based in Donegal, but travel will be required to sites across west/north-west Ireland. Working from the Sligo office will be required during a training and probation period after which the candidate may be free to work remotely with regular line manager meetings in person.
