Applications are invited for a temporary part-time post of a Research Engineer within UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering.
The successful candidate will work to ensure the smooth implementation of the tasks listed below.
In support of a number of digital agriculture research initiatives being conducted within the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, the individual will be required to:
* Identify and assess off-the-shelf and R&D based sensor technologies to collect real-time sensor data pertaining to agri feedstock supply chains, fertiliser storage and application, AD, and soil fertility.
* Propose sensor solutions, collect data, and process it to provide a high-level outline of an LCA inventory and LCA model to conduct an environmental impact assessment of key agri-feedstock supply chain process steps.
* Contribute to National and EU research funding call applications.
This post will have a specific focus on interacting with key stakeholders, including farmers, AD operators, sensor technology producers, distributors, and developers at all stages of the project, which is needed to best understand how sensor implementation and data collection can be integrated with agri-feedstocks production models.

Eligibility Criteria
Mandatory:
* PhD in LCA with focus on Agriculture.
* Experience/expertise in LCA for beef or dairy production systems.
* Experience/expertise in LCA for assessment of Green Biorefineries.
* Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion agenda.
* Knowledge of the principles governing research ethics and data protection.
* Experience processing sensor data.
