Health & Safety Manager - County Leitrim
This is a contract position to cover maternity leave.
We are looking for an individual who can support these plants in a Health & Safety role. The successful candidate must be proactive, a good communicator, and have fluent English.
Overall responsibilities:
1. Ensure that the plant operations comply with all H&S legislation and relevant codes of practice.
2. Ensure H&S is top of the management agenda throughout all departments.
3. Establish and monitor H&S policies and procedures that ensure compliance with Health and Safety guidelines and regulations.
Key Aspects:
1. Attend departmental PIT board meetings on a daily basis and provide support and direction to site management in achieving the highest possible level of safety to achieve operational effectiveness throughout the various departments.
2. Assist in review and development of site communications on a daily/weekly basis including updating information on Canteen boards / Health and safety notice boards.
3. Assist in Lean continuous improvement within departments and employee involvement by utilizing Lean manufacturing tools. Champion Lean projects throughout each department.
4. Liaise and work with department managers and maintenance on introducing preventative measures in regard to accident prevention.
5. Carry out accident investigation and corrective action measures with department managers.
6. Update and develop risk assessments and SOPs throughout each department.
7. Assertively enforce safety policies in all departments.
8. Assist with the development of accident prevention and compliance programs.
9. Assist in risk identification and take appropriate action to minimize risks identified.
10. Ensure PPE policy is enforced at all times through training and inspection.
11. Conduct regular safety audits, walks, and safety talks with each Department.
12. Develop, monitor, and control weekly KPI’s in regard to Health and Safety, communicate weekly updates on various communication boards to reflect these KPI’s.
13. Attend Group Health and Safety Task Force meeting and develop H&S agenda at a group level.
14. Ensure contractor control procedures and compliance are established and monitored at a site level.
15. Ensure compliance in regard to statutory bodies – Health and Safety Authority and Insurance procedures are adhered to.
16. Monitor each department’s processes to ensure that operators are trained in correct SOP’s.
17. Ensure safety training records are updated on the Work Force Management System.
