The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) provides asset and liability management services to the Irish Government. It has evolved from a single function agency managing the National Debt to a manager of a complex portfolio of public assets and liabilities.
The SBCI is the Irish national promotional institution created by the SBCI Act 2014 with the objective of delivering effective financial supports to support the Irish economy, in particular SMEs, by addressing failures in the Irish credit market and driving competition and innovation.
Role Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for talented and motivated graduates to join the SBCI division of the NTMA on a 24-month Associate Programme commencing in September 2025. The programme is open to graduates with a degree in Corporate Strategy / Business / Commerce / International Studies / Politics or a related discipline.
The Associate will support the SBCI unit through day-to-day duties including but not limited to, the below tasks:
It would be the intention that the associate would rotate on at least two of the below teams rotating every 6 to 12 months, this may vary depending on the business needs at the time.
Products, Strategy & Marketing Conducting research papers for product development.Assisting with the product development team during the development and deployment stage.Communications and relationship management of key stakeholder including Government Departments and EU institutions.Representing SBCI at external marketing events.Lending & CreditPreparation of credit assessment paper for annual reviews and assisting with new credit proposals.Ongoing monitoring of credit connections through the tracking of financial covenants and other financial information.Assisting with the negotiation and drafting of Operating Models with SBCI's on-lender partners.Relationship management of SBCI's on-lenders including dealing with queries from on-lenders.Assisting with the on-boarding of new on-lenders.Finance & OperationsMonitoring SBCI's lending and cash exposures including the completion of Bank reconciliations.Ensuring payment of invoices in line with the Prompt-Payment legislation obligations.Reviewing recharges from the NTMA and to Government Departments to ensure accuracy.Supporting the claims and recoveries process for SBCI's loan guarantee schemes, ensuring accuracy of payments within the agreed timelines.Management of loan drawdowns and repayments.Relationship management of NTMA Finance.Supporting the Management Information team.Managing the relationships with critical outsourced third-party service providers.Supporting the day-to-day operations of the SBCI.Risk & GovernanceMonitoring of SBCI's Key Risk Indicators.Assisting with Risk Identifications & Assessments through the ongoing maintenance of the Risk Register.Assisting with second line credit assessments for new credit proposals and annual reviews.Liaising with internal and other auditors to track opening findings and liaising with the SBCI teams to ensure all audit findings are closed within the agreed timelines.Assisting with the monitoring and updating of various policies.Assisting with the risk assessment of key projects or business changes.Stakeholder management of NTMA Compliance and NTMA Risk.Supporting the Company Secretary with preparation and scheduling of Board and Committee meetings.Assisting with Board Evaluations and the Board Directors training programme.At the end of the programme, the successful Associate will have developed a solid knowledge base of the SBCI and the wider NTMA.
Learning and Development:
Associates typically also complete professional examinations such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Institute of Bankers exams and will be offered the full range of NTMA supports in this regard combined with a detailed associate training programme and associate network across the NTMA in addition to on the job training.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of a 2.1 honors degree or a minimum of a 2.1 Masters, ideally in a related discipline.
Applicants must have the correct legal status to work in Ireland (Irish Citizen, EEA Citizen, Stamp 4, Stamp 1G Visa).

Pension Abatement
