Minimum Qualifications Reporting to the Director of Command Center Operations, Safety and Security, the Command Center Administrator is vigilant in maintaining situational awareness to ensure the security of NYSBA critical infrastructure and assets, as well as, the safety of the traveling public. This is accomplished through a combination of active and passive monitoring methodologies to assess the overall security, traffic and safety posture of all five bridge facilities operated by NYSBA including the Bear Mountain Bridge, the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, the Mid-Hudson Bridge, the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Furthermore, the Command Center Administrator is responsible for the coordination of incident response and incident management for all security and traffic related incidents occurring on NYSBA property. Additionally, the Command Center Administrator conducts routine testing of NYSBA technologies and equipment to ensure continuous functionality. In this role the employee will perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of daily operations including but not limited to, obtaining shift coverage, answering calls.
Duties Description •High School Diploma or equivalent
•Valid New York State Driver’s License
•Three (3) years of experience in a Command Center Operator, Emergency Service Dispatcher, or comparative emergency management role
•Successful completion of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) New York Respond (NYR) system, training can be acquired within 6 months of employment
•Successful completion of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) course, training can be acquired within 6 months of employment
•Applicable Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) course certifications (IS-100, IS-200, IS-241, IS-700 and IS-1300)
•Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays
•Flexibility of work location – monthly tests are conducted at our back up Command Center facility, as well as occasionally needing to support the State Emergency Operations Center in Albany, NY on an as-needed basis.
•Critical thinking skills – ability to make decisions during emergency incident response, and at times in stressful situations
