Senior Standards and Monitoring Officer
The National Disability Authority (NDA) is an independent statutory body that provides evidence-informed advice and guidance to the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth on policy and practice relating to persons with disabilities.
About the Role
* To act as a central national body to assist the Minister in coordinating and developing disability policy;
* To undertake, commission, or collaborate in research projects and activities, and to assist in the development of statistical information for the planning, delivery, and monitoring of disability programs and services;
* To advise the Minister on standards for disability programs and services, prepare codes of practice, and monitor the implementation of standards and codes in this regard;
* To monitor the employment of people with disabilities in the public sector;
* To promote universal design of the built environment, products, services, and information and communications technology through the Centre of Excellence in Universal Design, so that they can be accessed, understood, and used by all persons regardless of their age, size, ability, or disability.
Responsibilities
The Senior Standards and Monitoring Officer will be responsible for:
* Providing technical advice and support to officials in the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and other Government Departments and key state agencies;
* Assisting in the development of policies and guidelines for the implementation of the Web Accessibility Directive;
* Monitoring the compliance of organizations with the Web Accessibility Directive and providing feedback and recommendations for improvement;
* Collaborating with the Centre of Excellence in Universal Design to promote universal design and accessibility;
* Providing training and capacity-building to stakeholders on web accessibility and universal design;
* Staying up-to-date with international best practices and developments in web accessibility and universal design.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A strong understanding of the principles of universal design and web accessibility;
* Excellent technical skills, including experience with web development and accessibility tools;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels;
* Ability to analyze complex information and provide clear and concise advice and guidance;
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize tasks effectively;
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
