We are delighted to announce we are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to be part of a new Orchard Residential Care project involving working with displaced children and young people who are separated from their families and place of origin, seeking asylum, and preparing them for an onward placement. The residential unit is located in Virginia, Co. Cavan.
The focus of the therapeutic programme will be utilising the Trauma Informed Model of Care, with particular emphasis on building secure and trusting relationships with the children and young people and also incorporating a positive Psychology approach, which is strengths orientated.
The Role of Social Care Worker:
* This role is to support children and young people to develop and improve their relationships with others, their social and life skills, academic attainment, and participation in recreational and leisure pursuits through contributing to the provision of stable, secure, and safe surroundings, planned activities and individual interventions.
* To establish a nurturing and supportive relationship with children and young people to help them develop functional and constructive relationships with others.
* Within the overall framework of the Orchard Residential Care participate as a team member in providing care and support to the children and young people placed in the Home.
* To work with the rest of the team to provide a stable, caring, and supportive environment for children and young people that respects and affirms their racial, cultural, and religious identity and lifestyle.
* To assist children and young people to develop socially acceptable behaviour through encouragement of positive behaviour, constructive response to inappropriate behaviour and adherence to Orchard Residential Care behaviour management strategies.

Essential Criteria for Applicants
Candidates must hold a qualification at Level 7 or above that meets the criteria to be registered as a Social Care Worker with CORU.
Excellent Communication and report writing skills
Proficient in the use of I.T. particularly Microsoft 365 tools and other relevant software
Full Clean driver's license which has been held for one year or more, with eligibility to drive in Ireland
