Technical Translator (Australian English)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to localise software and related content into Australian English.
Description
Creatively translate US English content for the intended market while maintaining the Apple tone of voice and original message, and adhering to inclusive writing standards.
* Translate content while keeping up-to-date on industry trends, cultural evolution, and socio-political events in the target market.
* Contribute to improving tools to make software localisation workflows more efficient.
* Help investigate the root causes of international issues found in localised software.
* Evangilize best practices for localisation-friendly development and content.
* Define and drive improvements in our localised product.
This position provides a chance to work within an exciting, supportive team, interact with other teams at Apple, and gain valuable insights into the development process at Apple.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Creative and Human Interface teams to ensure that Apple's voice is tailored to the local market.
* Bug monitoring, blocking issues, reporting, and resolution.
* Work with multi-functional groups to ensure the process runs smoothly and on schedule.
* Ensure terminology consistency across all Apple products and services.
* Assist with quick-turnaround translations.
* Identify tools and process improvements.
* Perform linguistic QA and runtime testing.
* Maintain style guides and language glossaries.
Requirements
* Accredited fluency in Australian English.
* Extraordinary written and verbal communication skills.
* Expertise in Australian English Content Creation, Creative Writing or Translation.
* Software localisation experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Linguistics, Journalism, Cultural Studies or Creative Writing.
* CAT tool knowledge.
* Marketing experience.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with creative and technical stakeholders.
* Excellent knowledge of structural aspects of the language (syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics).
