Job description
We are recruiting a full-time Healthcare Assistant / Phlebotomist to work alongside Doctors, Nurses, and Administration staff for a large General Practice surgery in the Lucan Area.
All Applicants must be a certified Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist, and previous experience working in a GP practice would be preferable.
THE ROLE
Efficient computer skills are a must, and knowledge of Health One would be an advantage.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents, or other means.
2. Reassure patients and help them relax.
3. Determine the right venepuncture method based on patient age, health, etc.
4. Find veins that are suitable for puncture.
5. Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment.
6. Arrange daily activities based on urgency of requests for fluid samples.
7. Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples.
8. Label samples correctly and send or deliver them for testing.
9. Answer patient questions and provide useful information.
10. Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests.
11. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working.
12. Perform ECGs on patients.
13. Take blood pressure and fit 24 BP Monitors.
14. Inform patients of blood results as directed by the General Practitioner.
15. Manage the Chronic Disease Management program, including daily monitoring of the dashboard and inviting patients to participate in the CDM programme.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum of 2 years experience.
2. Ability to work as part of a team with excellent attention to detail.
3. A good team player who possesses effective communication and relationship-building skills.
4. A pro-active and motivated person who enjoys a varied role.
5. Excellent communication skills.
Job Types: Full-time and Permanent
Pay: €18.00-€20.00 per hour
