Role – Lead Structural Engineer

Role Overview
The Lead Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing and assessing modular structures, ensuring compliance with Irish building regulations and industry best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with design, manufacturing, and construction teams to create efficient, cost-effective, and structurally sound solutions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the structural design and analysis of modular buildings, ensuring compliance with Irish building regulations.
2. Work closely with architects, design engineers, and project managers to integrate structural solutions into modular designs.
3. Perform structural assessments, load calculations, and material specifications for modular construction.
4. Provide technical support and guidance during the manufacturing and installation phases.
5. Ensure all designs meet health, safety, and sustainability standards.
6. Coordinate with external consultants and engineers as required.
7. Develop value-engineering solutions to optimise structural performance and cost-efficiency.
8. Conduct site inspections and structural assessments to ensure compliance with designs.
9. Keep up to date with industry trends, materials, and regulatory changes in modular construction.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience & Qualifications
1. Chartered Structural Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
2. 5+ years’ experience in structural engineering, ideally with exposure to modular or off-site construction.
3. Strong understanding of steel and timber frame structures, particularly in a modular setting.
4. Experience working on projects in education, healthcare, or commercial sectors is beneficial.
Skills & Attributes
1. Strong technical and analytical skills in structural engineering.
2. Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit, STAAD Pro, or equivalent).
3. Knowledge of Irish building codes, Eurocodes, and structural safety standards.
4. Excellent problem-solving and value-engineering abilities.
5. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams.
