The Client and overview of the Role:
My Client is a Connacht-based Construction Main Contractor with an annual turnover of circa €150m.
They have numerous live projects in the West and Mid-West region and can offer continuity of work. They are involved in projects for pharma, industrial, educational, sports, commercial, and residential buildings.
I am looking for a Setting-Out Engineer/Junior Site Engineer to join them. Initially, this will be for a project on the east side of Galway City. You'll be supported by an experienced Site Team, and this Company has a proven track record of retaining and developing talent.
You'll be working as part of a team, so you will need to be able to take instruction and take pride in what you do.
Over time, you will be responsible for producing As-Built drawings and various other documents for Technical Submittals (Irish Water, ESB, Local Authorities, etc.), but initially, you'll be setting out for most of your day.
You could have absolutely 0 experience or 1-2 years of Setting-Out experience using Total Stations in Ireland, but you'll need to have at least a Level 7 Degree.
The project will be for a minimum of 12 months, but you may be required to cover other sites, where necessary.
Main responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with on-site and off-site management teams to set out the project.
* Checking plans and drawings to ensure all calculations are accurate.
* Checking shuttering, steel, and other dimensions prior to concrete pours.
* Liaising with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure that program targets are met/exceeded where possible.
* Producing As-Built drawings and managing technical submittals for utilities, local authorities, etc.
* Coming up with solutions to problems where necessary.
* Overseeing quality control and health and safety on site.
* Maintaining materials reconciliation files.
Requirements:
* Willingness to learn and progress over time.
* Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience/knowledge of using setting out equipment - e.g. total station, GPS, and laser levels.
* Knowledge of temporary works coordination.
* Strong attention to detail and able to work on own initiative.
