The Communications Manager will be responsible for the strategic marketing and communications activities required to develop the Circular.ie brand.
The Rediscovery Centre is an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to leading environmental behavioural change and green living through reuse, education, research, and training. Recognising the need to grow awareness of the circular economy and support circular living in Irish society, the Rediscovery Centre is developing and implementing a new national scale consumer-facing communications initiative that supports and promotes circular activities across Ireland to facilitate Ireland’s transition to a Circular Economy.
This new project includes establishing a national circular economy brand and website (currently entitled Circular.ie), launching behaviour change campaigns, conducting market research, and supporting the promotion of circular activity in communities across Ireland. The work is aimed at ensuring Ireland’s citizens are ready for the circular transition.
To support this exciting initiative, we are now looking for a Communications Manager - Circular.ie.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Communications Manager will be responsible for the strategic marketing and communications activities required to develop the Circular.ie brand and website and the design and implementation of communications campaigns to drive ongoing awareness and engagement.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Managing all communication activities relating to Circular.ie drawing on, and contributing to, research and insights.
2. Working with selected Brand, Web, and PR partners to oversee the development, launch, and ongoing promotion of the new brand and website development for Circular.ie.
3. Developing the required messaging framework to present complex circular economy concepts and translate information into content that is accessible and relevant to broad audience groups and communities.
4. Managing media relations and building strong relationships with relevant circular economy and environment media and influencers.
5. Designing and overseeing communications strategy including multiformat content and a digital marketing strategy (search, SEO, display, video, podcasts, and social media) to drive audiences to Circular.ie and build awareness and engagement with the Circular economy.
6. Briefing and managing third-party agencies (PR, Media, Digital, Web, and Brand) and external contractors to deliver high impact solutions while ensuring value for money and measurable ROI on all spends.
7. Supervising and collaborating with internal staff to ensure successful project delivery.
8. Developing timelines & tracking project progress through KPIs and agreed metrics.
9. Developing and presenting regular measurement, monitoring, and evaluation reports and updates to key stakeholders throughout the programme.
10. Representing the project, liaising with the project team, Government, and other key stakeholders.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Third level qualification in Communications or Marketing.
2. 7+ years in a Communications role with experience of managing national multimedia campaigns through communications planning, development, and implementation at both strategic and operational level.
3. Appreciation of the national and local media and environment landscape.
4. Interest in and knowledge of the circular economy.
5. Experience of managing significant budgets with working knowledge of public procurement policies and guidelines.
6. Experience in managing third-party agencies (PR, Media, Digital, Web, and Brand) and external contractors.
7. Excellent written and verbal communications including presentations, copy writing, blogs, crafting press releases, and social media content.
8. Strong project management acumen and attention to detail.
9. Strong digital marketing skills and acumen with a good understanding of performance metrics and analytics as well as identification of the most relevant channels (existing and new) to reach all audience segments.
10. Knowledge of website front end design, journey optimisation, traffic analysis, and reporting tools.
11. Can-do attitude and an ability to work on own initiative.
12. Confident presenter and a proven track record in communications.
13. Ability to work and remain calm under pressure.

The salary for this role is benchmarked to the Public Pay Scale for Higher Executive Officer (€53,000 - €67,000). Expected appointment will be between level 1-5, commensurate with experience.
This is a fixed-term full-time contract of service for two years, five days over seven, with a probationary period of 3 months. The contract is renewable, subject to available funding.
The role is primarily based at the Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun, Dublin 9. Some work outside normal office hours and travel within the EU may be required from time to time.
This position is subject to satisfactory references, evidence of permit to work in Ireland, Garda Vetting, and foreign police clearance (if applicable).
