The job:
Internal Technical Sales will provide first class support and resolution for technical product enquiries and supplier recommendations, for all of our areas/ fields within the business. The role requires a mixture of proactive and reactive activities which will include outbound telephone contact with internal and external stakeholders, customer end-to-end delivery exceeding customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
* To own & accurately maintain suggested selling prices for all the product category, cross-trained in all areas.
* To effectively represent the product category within the business and externally to customers & suppliers.
* Providing technical support to branches, sales teams & customers around product & supplier selection, to include creation of correct product referencing for selected items.
* Regular reporting of KPIs against Branch objectives, especially category profitability.
* To leverage the capabilities of suppliers' sales teams in support of the business' objectives by providing focus, managing pipelines and providing sales data.
* To maintain a clear & comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape within all product areas including pricing.
* Advising sales & distribution regarding correct supplier and suitable alternative products in line with the product knowledge.
* Keep up to date with supplier new product ranges and industry developments.
* Review order acknowledgements, ensuring the part reference, quantity, delivery date and price are correct, updating the purchasing system accordingly.
* Keeping order books updated.
* Resolve issues relating to purchase order enquiries and discrepancies, supporting Finance.
* Open new supplier accounts after account application forms have been completed & approved.
* Other category activities & projects as may be reasonably required from time to time.
* Working alongside the Regional Team on the field, supporting the external Sales Reps.
* Support face-to-face customer engagement where necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven Sales experience and Product management for an extensive portfolio.
* Technical background / understanding of all relevant product areas. Training provided.
* Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent Excel / data manipulation and interpretation skills.
* Excellent commercial awareness with a clear understanding of all aspects of margin management and cost/benefit analysis etc. Strong knowledge and understanding of specific industry segments.
* Dynamic and energetic team player, possessing a clear passion for people.
* Customer centric, tenacious and outgoing - comfortable with travelling and high levels of face-to-face customer interaction.
* Excellent presentation skills and ability to adapt behaviour to the situation, i.e., the boardroom and engineers.
* Driver's license.
