Job DescriptionBasic Grade Occupational Therapist Reporting To: Director of ServicesBase: West Cork Working Relationships: To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. Parents/carers/adult service centre managers and staff for provision of OT intervention. Liaise and establish relations with other agencies and services. Overall Purpose of Position To provide quality occupational therapy services including assessment, intervention, programme planning and implementation, discharge and onward referrals. Service provision may include directive, monitoring and consultative approaches. To support service development within the organisation. Main Responsibilities Clinical To deliver a quality service to adults and using the service – this can be clinic based / home based or centre based as directed your manager. To undertake and participate in audits as required. To be responsible for fieldwork education of OT students. To ensure positive representation of OT service at all times. To undertake the development of new systems and protocol for service delivery under the guidance of senior team members. To keep abreast of developments in the field of learning disabilities, postural management, Autism among others. To impart skills to other staff via training. To continually enhance presentation skills To provide an occupational therapy service that meets the individual needs of each person, supported by O.T department staff. To advise parents, carers and staff re use of equipment, aids, seating etc. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and participate in staff meetings and case conferences. To assist in the organisation of occupational therapy clinics with other staff. To attend, on occasion, parent meetings outside working hours. To keep adequate up-to-date records.Management Management of resources. Be responsible for personal time management and management of caseload. To complete administration work as necessary. Attend and participate in in-service programmes. Actively engage in professional and personal development initiatives. Work with Head of Service to enhance the OT service within the organisation. Work with the Physiotherapy department to jointly manage the running of a postural management and seating clinic within the organisation. Participate effectively in the performance management system that operates within the organisation. Adhere to Health and Safety regulations at all times. To maintain the highest level of client confidentiality at all times. To contribute in a positive and energetic manner to the overall development of CoAction and the services it provides. Display active interest in research development. To participate in supervision session, setting goals and adhering to them. To manage caseload in relation to mileage effectively and economically. Qualifications RequiredDegree in OT from a 3rd level institution offering a programme of study that is accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. Candidates must have Eligibility/a permit to work Department of Health and Children (Ireland) validation as an Occupational Therapist Experience Required Preferred – experience with regards to postural management and the provision of equipment Preferred – experience within the field of Intellectual Disability / Physical Disability/Paediatrics/Autism Full clean driving licence essential.CoAction undertakes to provide Quality guidance and supervision in the implementation of your role. Be registered/be eligible for registration with CORU Received training in postural management and seating. Received training in sensory Integration therapy.
