Job Title: Cleaning Operative Responsible To: Team Leader of GSCM Works With: All staff Location: Good Shepherd Centre, Family Regional Homeless Hub, Athlone.
Purpose of the Post The purpose of the post is to assist the Service to provide safe and clean accommodation and support to homeless families, parents and children.
Environment of the Post GSCM provides emergency accommodation for up to 8 families accessing emergency accommodation.
The services are low threshold in nature.
Working to agreed protocols in relation to families care plans.
This may involve supporting families with challenging behaviour.
All staff are to adhere to support plans as directed by senior staff.
Guidance and Authority The post holder will report to the team leader, who reports to the service manager.
Supervision will be provided.
The Service Manager reports to a Head of Services, who reports to the CEO.
The Board oversees all work.
The post holder will work each shift as assigned, informed by and in accordance with service policies and individual care/support plans.
The post holder will be expected to act in a way that is consistent with decisions made by team leader and as directed by the manager.
The post holder will be expected to participate on occasion in team meetings, supervision and in internal and external training when required.
The post holder will at all times operate in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with aims, values and ethos of GSCM.
Principal Accountabilities & Key Indicators To work within the overall objective of the Good Shepherd Centre To work within the Health and Safety Framework of the centre To ensure compliance to all record keeping, ensuring confidentiality for all clients and their children at all times.
To attend team meetings, supervision and training as required.
To ensure that all areas are complaint in terms of Health and safety and fire controls and marshalling.
Reporting any defects in equipment or fire controls immediately.
General Cleaning Duties: Sweeping, Mopping, and Vacuuming: Maintaining floors in a clean and tidy state.
Dusting: Removing dust from surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.
Sanitizing and Disinfecting: Cleaning and disinfecting high-touch areas like door handles, light switches, and countertops.
Surface Cleaning: Wiping down desks, tables, and other surfaces.
Window and Mirror Cleaning: Ensuring windows and mirrors are clean and streak-free.
Trash Removal: Emptying trash bins and replacing liners.
Washing: Bedding, clothes, curtains and towels Room Clearance and preparation: For new families.
Preparing the room in full.
Supply Replenishment: Restocking cleaning supplies, toiletries (hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels).
Floor Care: Sweeping, mopping, and potentially waxing or polishing floors, depending on the type of flooring.
Specific Areas of Cleaning: Bathrooms: Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs.
Kitchens: Cleaning countertops, appliances, and other kitchen surfaces.
Common Areas: Maintaining the cleanliness of hallways, lobbies, and other shared spaces.
Clean the office Other Responsibilities: Following Safety Protocols: Adhering to workplace health and safety rules.
Reporting Issues: Notifying management of any damage or maintenance issues.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring all cleaning equipment and supplies are stored safely and securely.
Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service and handling any client inquiries or complaints professionally.
Time Management: Adhering to a cleaning schedule and completing tasks in a timely manner.
Specialized Cleaning: this may include carpet shampooing, floor waxing, or cleaning specific types of surfaces.
Ensuring the grounds, car park and grass are maintained: clearing rubbish, cutting grass and sweeping paths.
Any other duties that may be assigned by the line manager.
