Job Title: Principal Engineer
Job Summary:
A highly experienced Principal Engineer is sought to lead design teams through full product development and into production. As a key member of our team, you will consult on system architectures, assess technical requirements, and oversee design progressions during product developments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Design Engineer: Meet the requirements of Lead Design Engineer in your respective expertise.
2. Technical Representation: Represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions and meetings.
3. Project Management Collaboration: Work with Project Managers in the quoting process.
4. Risk Assessment: Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules.
5. Process Development: Support the development and utilization of processes for design.
6. Mentorship: Mentor all engineering staff.
7. Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost-effective.
8. Publications: Raise the perception of Jabil's acumen in the industry by authoring or presenting papers, articles, etc.
9. Industry Participation: Be associated with applicable industry trade groups/organizations maintaining active membership and participation.
10. Research and Development: Work with Site Directors to define potential R&D project proposals that will help increase areas of competencies needed.
11. Platform and Product Architecture: Lead the development and implementation of platform and product architectures in collaboration with senior technical staff.
12. System Component Requirements: Guide and oversee the development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the architectures.
13. Product Design and Documentation: Manage product design and documentation at a system level.
14. Independent Research: Perform independent research and engineering studies.
15. Remote Team Leadership: Lead remote development teams.
16. Consultation: Effectively consult on multiple projects in parallel.
17. Intellectual Property: Develop IP Patents, Technical Publications, or White Papers.
18. Additional Duties: May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and ideas to others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
