Senior Financial Analyst, EMEA Data Center Finance team

AWS Data Center Construction Finance seeks a results-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to partner with our construction teams to deliver data center capacity for our customers on-time and on budget. The successful candidate will work closely with a variety of stakeholders (construction, engineering, program managers, supply chain, data center operations, other finance teams) to drive projects and initiatives, demonstrating strong judgment and leadership. This role requires a self-starter who can leverage analytical skills and attention to detail while maintaining financial controllership. Regular interaction with senior business partners requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Key job responsibilities
1. Serve as part of the regional leadership team responsible for delivering high quality and robust decisions with favorable business outcomes.
2. Become subject matter expert for data center construction including cost drivers, pertinent technology, vendors, customers served, and regional nuances.
3. Establish annual/monthly performance targets, analyze variances to plan, and communicate key messages to senior leadership.
4. Pinpoint defects or waste in processes, and drive new processes and automation to eliminate the defects and prevent them from recurring.
5. Identify and lead cost savings initiatives.
6. Data center capital expenditure approvals.
7. Support forecasting and month-end activities across the team and specific regions.
8. Identify opportunities to improve tools and processes to support finance team and business partners.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in a quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance).
2. Experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
3. Experience in accounts receivable or accounts payable.
4. Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
5. Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
6. Experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
7. Experience working with stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. MBA or CPA.
2. Experience participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
3. Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
4. Knowledge of Tableau.
